Overview
Straight, properly aligned teeth aren’t just beautiful, they’re more comfortable and healthier. An improper bite and crooked teeth may lead to future dental issues that may be expensive to fix and painful. This is why Dr. Huy Tran is proud to provide the Invisalign system — clear, removable aligners for his patients in Merritt Island, FL. Made custom to fit your teeth and your unique goals, Invisalign is more comfortable and attractive than traditional metal orthodontics that may be taken out to make eating and tooth-brushing easier. If you’re interested in having healthier teeth with Invisalign technology, make an appointment at My Island Dental to get more information from Dr. Tran.
Best Candidates
There are many factors that may decide the alignment of your teeth: if you sucked your thumb, genetics, missing a tooth or teeth, and traumatic accidents to the face. The misalignment of your teeth may cause more oral health concerns, such as a bad bite (dental malocclusion), uneven wear on the enamel, difficulty chewing and speaking, plus jaw pain and toothaches. If Dr. Tran notices one of these problems in your dental examination, he can suggest an orthodontic procedure like Invisalign.
Invisalign is great for both teens and adults who would like straighter, healthier teeth minus the hassle, pain, and look of braces. Even though the aligners should be worn the majority of the day, Invisalign may be removed for cleaning your teeth and eating, plus for special occasions and physical activities. Much less obvious than metal orthodontics that poke and cut the inside of the mouth, most people will usually not be able to tell that you’re using your Invisalign aligners.
What To Expect
The initial Invisalign aligners will be made with impressions at My Island Dental. You will come back to receive your initial sets of aligners with instructions from Dr. Tran. You will need to keep your aligners in for at least 20 hours every day for your treatment to work, ideally taking them out only for cleaning and eating. In time, you’ll move to your next set of aligners as they carefully shift your teeth closer to their proper position. You will need to have follow-up appointments every 4 – 6 weeks at My Island Dental to have your aligning trays checked and to get new impressions done so new sets of trays can be ordered. How long you need to use Invisalign will differ considering the initial condition of your teeth and your goals; however, many patients need to wear trays for around a year.
Follow-Up
Once you’ve made it to your goals, it is important to keep your teeth from shifting into their original position. Vivera retainers by Invisalign are designed using the same materials to keep your teeth in place once your Invisalign treatment is done. Every retainer is made custom at the Invisalign dental lab based on impressions made after your orthodontic treatment is done. Dr. Tran will discuss with you how often to wear your retainer, and how to care for it after it is returned to My Island Dental from the Invisalign laboratory. Dr. Tran will keep watching the alignment of your teeth and bite during your annual dental examination to make sure your teeth stay in their new place.
Insurance Coverage
Many of our patients find that at least part of the expenses of their treatment with Invisalign is paid by insurance. Our front office can determine your coverage and figure out your personal fees. My Island Dental offers many different payment methods if you are not using insurance. During your initial consultation, Dr. Tran will go over your estimated costs and how our office can help to make your Invisalign treatment more affordable with payment plans and medical financing.
